RE: Can A Person's Soul Respond To The Blood Of Christ Without Their Right Conscious Mind?

Can A Brain Dead Person Get Saved?

Question: First let me ask, do you believe a person's soul can give response to the Blood of Jesus even when they are not of right mind. The Bible says by the word of mouth only can one be saved. Being in a comatose state is the same as being dead. Can this person be saved? Yes and no, the mind is willing, but there mouth cannot speak. So I would say, no, that person cannot be saved in this state of mind. What do you think?

Answer: Greetings in Jesus wonderful name! Each human is a spirit, with a soul and covered with a dirt and dust body. The spirit helps us connect with God, the soul helps us connect with ourselves and the body helps us connect with the world. And all the three are interconnected and interdependent. The spirit and soul are immaterial, but the body is made of earthen dust. We cannot separate the three from the day we are born until the day we die, which is appointed by God (Heb 9:27), or before that time due to our unwise negligence of taking care of our body (Psa 90:12). Once we die, our spirit and soul departs from us.

First of all, I would like to tell you that salvation is a conscious decision made by our human will. In other words, when we come to be convicted by the Holy Spirit to understand that we are sinners bound to hell fire, then we lift up our head to a supernatural God who has created us, so that God sees our sincere desire for freedom and liberty, and thus acts on behalf of us to reveal Jesus our Savior who has already died for our sins and for the sins of the whole humanity (1 Cor 15:1-4). So when we believe the gospel of Jesus Christ we get saved from sin and receive eternal life which cannot be taken up from us for eternity ahead (Eph 1:13-14; John 10:28-29). O what a wonderful Savior!

To believe the Word of God, we do not need a logical mind, nor a favorable emotion, but a childlike faith to trust that God is true, holy and righteous (Ezra 9:15; Psa 18:30; 9:8; 98:9), and therefore we can trust Him to fulfill His promises and reward us as we believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who believe in Him (Matt 18:3; Heb 11:6; Psa 85:10; 145:17; Deut 32:4; Rom 7:12; Lev 19:2).

So a righteous God, in His justice will not do what is wrong in His sight. Now will He allow the unrighteous thing that the wicked does to take place without judgment for it now or even later (Psa 37:13, 1-2)? Will not the judge of the whole earth do what is right? (Gen 18:25). We should understand the basic, right from Adam and Eve after their fall in to sin (Rom 3:23; 5:12), Satan through the sin nature within humans have continued to control and lead humankind outside of the will of God (Matt 6:11). When we return to God in faith, then we learn to walk again in the will of God (Rom 3:21-22). The Lord now in the New Testament times has promised justice and righteousness to all those who approach His court in heaven (Luke 18:7).

In other words, God saves automatically all those children where ever they are in the world, who are below the age of accountability as they have not come to a mature state of having the knowledge of good and evil to take a good choice to make a decision for or against Christ (Rom 7:9; Deut 1:39).

Once in to the age of accountability, we are considered by God as responsible adults who will be made accountable for our choice to accept or reject Christ consciously (Matt 16:2-3, 4). Our choice will make eternal repercussion. That is, accepting Christ will forever connect us in to God's Presence through our born again spirit (Luke 23:43; Matt 25:34; Heb 13:5). Rejecting Christ will doom and damn us away from God's Presence and goodness forever and ever (2 Thess 1:8-9).

God sees our thoughts and responds to us by giving us our salvation and all needs along with it (1 Sam 16:7; Psa 94:11; 2 Tim 2:19; Psa 51:17; Rom 8:32). So belief saves us (Eph 1:12-13), but confession confirms and affirms our decision and determination to follow Christ to the church, the world and the devils, it also shows that we are saved (1 Tim 6:12-13; Rev 12:11). When a person is dying and at the last moment of time believes in his/her heart, in a conscious coma state and accepts Christ as his Lord and Savior, there is nothing much left to tell the world, church or the devils about his salvation (Rom 10:10, 11). Every man's speech starts with a thought, so a man to talk with God is so easy because he can talk with God through his thoughts (Prov 23:7). Once a person is saved in a conscious coma and dies thereafter, angels come and take them straight to the presence of God (Luke 16:22).

The Word of God says, "with the heart one believes unto righteousness" (Rom 10:10a), which means when a person expresses to God in his thoughts his desire for salvation, God understands it and gives to him the salvation of soul that he requires, which makes him righteous before God, man and the devil (Psa 139:2, 4). Further as the same Scripture continues saying, "with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Rom 10:10b), which further makes us understand, for the devil to take off his evil hands off us in our lives, he needs to hear the Word of Mouth which is expressed through words because he cannot understand our thoughts which only God can. The devil responds to our words, while the one and only omniscient God can only respond to our thoughts to give us salvation from sin (Rev 12:11, 17). We become officially the citizens of God's kingdom when we believe in the Lord Jesus, and God responds to us by imparting His very own righteousness to our spiritual account in heaven and writes our names in the book of life (Rev 3:5; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Cor 1:30; Luke 10:20). Thus our belief transfers us from the kingdom of Satan to the Kingdom of God the Son Jesus Christ and from the power of Satan to God (Col 1:13; Acts 26:18). But our confession dislodges Satan "unto salvation" (Rom 10:10b), which means the power of Satan and his hold over us as unbelievers gets totally broken as we speak the confession of our brand new testimony of salvation against Satan.

Unconscious coma which is brain death make a person reside in the body, but with no conscious state to think and act within the body. Such people cannot be able to believe as the Word of God says, "6 [Remember your Creator earnestly now] before the silver cord [of life] is snapped apart, or the golden bowl [of conscious thoughts which can be legally expressed to God while the spirit/soul remain in the body (Rev 5:8; Prov 25:11)] is broken, or the pitcher is broken [when the spirit/soul departs from the body] at the fountain [of God from where it originated (Eccl 12:7)], or the wheel broken at the cistern [and the whole circulatory system of the blood ceases to function]." (Eccl 12:6, AMP). The intermediate state between life and death, is a thin line where soul/spirit cling on to the body, either by the mercies of God for the appointed time of God or be sustained by external medical technology that extends human life to exist in this state to a certain extent by expecting a person to come back to life by miraculous intervention (Eccl 3:2). But certainly wickedness will not rescue the wicked from the face of death to regain consciousness to take a good choice for Christ to receive eternal life, when people are in this state between life and death (Eccl 8:8, NLT). Though the medical technology may extend their life in a permanent vegetative state (i.e.) some months (3 in the US and 6 in the UK), they will not be able to get saved without consciousness of the soul life.

More than 50% of comas are related to head trauma or disturbances in the brain's circulatory system, like trauma, swelling of brain tissues, bleeding, stroke, blood sugar, oxygen deprivation, infection, toxins and seizures, toxic-metabolic encephalopathy, anoxic brain injury, persistent vegetative state, locked-in syndrome, brain death and medically induced in ICU. In the above types of coma, there are certain types of coma people remain awake and alert and with a normal mind. Brain death is a vegetative state where only breathing, circulation, and sleep-wake cycles exist without the person being unaware of his or her surroundings and incapable of voluntary movement.

So a brain dead person or someone in coma of vegetative state of severe degree cannot be saved, and a person with consciousness of the soul before actual death happen or become alive can be able to get saved. A person who is conscious, yet remain unresponsive to the external stimulus or surrounding can be able to get saved by the grace and mercy of God, if God reaches to them either supernaturally through a dream or a vision of reality or through a human messenger who speaks to him in to his ears. Yet I would say, eternal life should never be put at stake to the last minute, it is the riskiest thing we do and should choose Christ when we are well and good in to our adult youth life itself. God Himself encourages and desires for people to get saved in their youthful age itself (1 Tim 2:3-4; Eccl 12:1).

Much Blessings....
